Hello. I have read through you article concerning gearboxes with great interest. I have also read a couple of ither similar articles but still have a few question. So what is need to a C56 gearbox from a corolla with the 4.3 (or even shorter version final drive) to an EP91 with the stock C150 gearbox. Engine is also NA ep91. From what i have heard i suppose the bellhousing or something like that but not sure cause most do this on a gt/glanza with c52 c56. Or we can use the pinion and shaft from a C56 AEXXX to a C150? any ideas please feel free

The NA gearbox is different than the Turbo gearbox. The final from the C56 will not fit on the C150 because a)the diff and housing is smaller b)the Na gearbox has a different number of bolts.

hi potge

i have the setup you are talking about in my 4efe powered starlet. i have the AE111 C56 (which has the 4.312 final drive). I had the bellhousing swapped over from a GT starlet C52, and you will also need to machine flat & drill 3 holes in the C56 centre housing for the gearbox mount as in the AE111 the gearbox is mounted on the top of the box, not the front (you will know what i mean once u see the C56 box)

Hope this helps :) I'd also recommend putting an LSD of some kind in while you have the bellhousing off.

Also should add the standard driveshafts/CV's will fit in the new box fine.

Thanks both of you guys you were enlightening. I should start the hunting now for the gboxes.
and something i remembered if fit an lsd (it will be for c52 gearbox wont it?) wouldnt i need new driveshafts (or at least machined to equal length)?

if you fit an aftermarket LSD (like a TRD unit) you will not need different driveshafts.
