hi guys, greetings from cape town south africa. i'm new to the site and the starlet family. i have a EP82 gt turbo car, which is a rare find in south africa.when i got it it was a shell with geabox only, the previous owner took the engine and standard ecu. well i bought a complete engine from the importers, managed to get the stock ecu back with wire harnass, that i had to join by the external fuesbox and on the wires that plugs in by the ecu. now my problem, the car dont wanna start. when you turn the key,the starter motor turns the engine, but there is no spark. i have noticed that all the lights come on on the dash, all except the yellow 1, the management light. dont know what they call it lol. it's the light thats suppose to flash the check the fault code. do you guys have any idea where i can start looking for the problem. i have checked all fuses and replaced what had to be replaced. i know the ecu is working cause the car that i took it out drove till i took out all the wires and ecu. hope you guys will be able to help me as my feet is itching to get behind the wheel
Sounds a bit odd buddy, the light should be illuminating. Not sure if this will work due to the circumstances but see if you can get the car into diagnostic mode :
well today my auto electrician made a turn by me, he managed to start the car, the management light still dont come on but it starts it looks like it was the turbo timer that caused the problem, he unplugged it but and it starts. so now we must sort that problem out. i dont know what make the timer is but it plugs into the fuse box inside the car. the timer is FET TB306 does anyone have info on this product?
The majority of turbo timers are plugged into the ignition system wiring using a EP specific harness. Occassionally I'd see one hard wired into the dash wiring but I've never seen one actually wired into the fusebox?
No matter, just set it aside for now. The main thing is the car is running eh?
